Wyoming Township OK's funds for service agencies

The Wyoming Township Board met on Tuesday, April 24 and allocated funds totalling $8700 to the service organizations that work in the township area.

Township funds were awarded as follows:

•New Pathways, $500.

•Family Pathways, $1,600.

•Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau, $1600.

•Chisago County Senior Citizen Center, $1600.

•The Refuge Network, $1600.

•Northwoods Humane Society, $1000.

•Seven County Senior Federation, $300.

•Chisago County Agriculture Society, $500.

Other topics

Town Engineer Mark Erichson reported that bids are out for the improvements on Greenway Lane, Health Avenue and West Comfort Drive.

Wyoming Township Planning Commission appointments were talked about and it was decided that seven members would be a good number but the present five members with one liaison is adequate until another member is added.

The Lakes Area Recreation Association has requested the use again this summer of the township ballfield from 6-9 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays beginning in May. The town board approved this use.

It was reported that eight trees are going to be replanted in Blue Spruce Park to enhance the area.

Board Supervisor Mark Utecht is unable to attend the next Rushline Corridor meeting so Supervisor Ron Swenson will take his place.

The town board voted to appoint Annette Storm to be citizen at large on the township board of appeals.

After some talk about cost-of-living increases for the staff, the town board declared they themselves would not expect an increase but asked Clerk/Treasurer Betsy Houle to put together a spread sheet.

The personnel committee will go over spread sheet and give a presentation to the town board. It is also planned that employee reviews will be done such as was done in 2005.

Thursday, May 24th is still the date for oral arguments before the Minnesota Court of Appeals in the consolidation legal dispute involving Chisago City and Stacy.
