Before a handful of Rangers took part in the Hamline Elite meet on Friday, the entire girls track team was in Roseville on April 26 for the Roseville Invitational.
In order to stay fresh for Hamline, some of Forest Lake’s top competitors were held out of Thursday’s invite. The Rangers then finished the afternoon with 41 points, which put them in seventh place.
At Hamline, the girls had some phenomenal performances, and those were headed up by Kristi Buerkle.
The senior sprinter took first place in the 200 meters with a meet record time of 24.96, and then duplicated the effort in the 400-meter run.
Covering a lap of the track in just 57.37, Buerkle beat second place Megan Lundgren of Mankato East by more than a second, while setting another meet record.
The powerful 800-meter relay team of Rae Moen, Brittni LaFontsee, Buerkle and Kelsey Kosman, came in third with a time of 1:46.16.
Beyond that there was success in the field events.
Christy Newell cleared 4-11 in the high jump, putting her in a tie for 10th place, and LaFontsee came in fourth in the long jump with a mark of 16-4.
Forest Lake will be at Stillwater on Friday, and then have the True Team Section meet on Tuesday, May 8.
