American Legion Post 225 plans oratorical contest
American Legion Post 225 is gearing up for its annual oratorical competition. Area student in grades 9-12 may take part. This year’s oratory competition is slated for 8 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 15.
Coordinator Ron Weiss said students will be asked to prepare and give an eight to 10 minute talk on the United States constitution and be prepared to give a three to five minute follow-up presentation.
The first place winner will receive a $500 scholarship and have an opportunity to enter district competition where the first-place winner will go to the state competition.
The second place contestant in the Post 225 competition will receive a $300 scholarship. Third place in the local competition will claim a $200 scholarship.
Entry forms are available at Forest Lake High School, 6101 Scandia Trail N. or at Post 225, 355 W. Broadway Ave. Forms must be submitted by Dec. 11.
