Dec. 18 CIP hearing set in county

The Washington County Board of Commissioners set a public hearing for the 2008-2012 Capital Improvement Plan for Tuesday, Dec. 18. Forest Lake is tentatively slated to receive $14 million in funding for CR-2 (W. Broadway Ave.-I-35 interchange) improvements in 2010. The plan also assumes $2.5 million in local funding for Broadway improvements. A federal highway grant of $5.5 million is anticipated for 2010. The outline for highway improvements also includes $600,000 in county dollars for a Hardwood Creek Trail bridge crossing of CR-83 (SW 11th Ave.) and $1.5 million in county funding for a new 11th Avenue overpass of I-35 in 2012. In all, the five-year CIP calls for spending of $227,109,900, with $37.9 earmarked for 2008. The 2008-2012 CIP is a schedule of improvements, construction, technology, land acquisitions, and equipment needs for the years 2008 through 2012. The draft plan can be reviewed online at www.co.washington.mn.us.
