FL Police arrest man wanted in Blaine
A man wanted by police in Blaine on a possible domestic assault charge was arrested by Forest Lake police early Friday morning after a short chase into the lake. Police in Forest Lake were called by the Anoka County Sheriff's Office to be on the lookout for a Forest Lake man wanted for possible charges in Blaine.
A Blaine woman called police earlier in the night to report that she had been assaulted by the man who then left the home. Forest Lake Chief of Police Clark Quiring said the man’s car, a 2000 Lincoln, was spotted by Forest Lake police shortly before 4 a.m. The vehicle was stopped near the lake at 236th St. Court N. The suspect fled the vehicle and waded into waste deep lake water and refused police orders to surrender. After a short period of negotiations, Quiring said a Forest Lake officer went in after the man and made the arrest.
The man, a 25-year-old Forest Lake resident who lives on 236th St. Court N., was taken to the Forest Lake Police Station where he was held for Blaine officers. Formal charges are pending in Anoka County, Quiring said. The Blaine Police Department said Friday the man was booked in the Anoka County Jail on probable cause of domestic assault.
