3 from FL honored for life-saving efforts

A firefighter, a police officer and a paramedic have been honored for their efforts in saving the lives of two children trapped in a burning mobile home in Forest Lake on June 27. The three were honored during the Minnesota Public Service Awards recognition program on Thursday night in Brooklyn Park. Bruce Wightman, Forest Lake Fire & Rescue deputy fire chief, was named as an honors award winner while Kurt Kowarsch, a Forest Lake Police Department patrol officer, and Bryan Stevens, a North Ambulance paramedic, were merit award winners. They were honored for their efforts in saving the two children from the burning home in Woodlund Mobile Home Park last summer. The awards program is sponsored by North Memorial of Robbinsdale.
