A special meeting of the Forest Lake City Council has been called next week to discuss the city’s involvement with the 2008 Fourth of July fireworks display. The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 22 at Forest Lake City Hall, 220 N. Lake St. American Legion Post 225, the official sponsor of the local Independence Day Celebration, has asked the city for assistance in sponsoring the fireworks portion of the annual celebration. The council last week approved the Legion’s request for a four-day celebration in 2008 from Wednesday, July 2 through Saturday, July 5. The city council also have its regular meeting at 7 p.m. next Monday.
