Watershed board plans changes

Jackie Anderson and Randy Anhorn representing the Comfort Lake-Forest Lake Watershed District Board were present at the Tuesday, Oct. 9 Wyoming Town Board meeting to answer questions regarding watershed board’s request to change the way they are governed.
When the watershed board was originally formed, it was incorporated into the seven-county metro area but 80 percent of the district area is actually in Chisago County.
It was pointed out that 85 percent of its revenue comes from Washington County but it is difficult to work under the present rule using petitions.
The board wants to make a change so that they can go through a public hearing process for each project to be approved locally before going to the state.
This procedure would provide a much more detailed plan and the goal is to have stronger partnerships with localities being involved.
The township board unanimously voted in favor of this plan.
Greenway Lane
The Greenway Lane road project was gone over as it was previously planned to have 19 units assessed but it appears there are three additional parcels that can be subdivided.
The town board authorized Zoning Administrator Fred Weck to make a determination based on current zoning so that staff can send out the assessment notices for either 19 units or the proposed 22 units.
Re-assessment plans have had to be changed in the past for the West Comfort and Itasca road projects for this same reason.
Supervisor Mark Utecht reported the Rush Line Task Force is now focusing on the bus line going to St. Paul only and not Minneapolis. The next meeting will be a very important one and Utecht is urging anyone interested at all to attend the meeting at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, at White Bear City Hall on US-61.
Chairman Roger Elmore reported the township’s request for a hearing by the Supreme Court concerning the annexation has been denied so the next step will be to move forward to a contested case hearing.
