A Linwood Township resident was killed late Friday afternoon when his vehicle was hit head-on by a vehicle that lost control and crossed the median on US-61 at Beam Avenue in Maplewood. The Minnesota State Patrol said Kong M. Vang was killed when his northbound vehicle was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by Timothy T. Jones, 24, of Oakdale. Jones also died in the crash.

The accident was reported at 5:33 p.m. on Friday. The State Patrol said the Jones vehicle was traveling south on US-61 in the left lane when it cut across the median into oncoming traffic and hit Vang's vehicle. Vang was driving in the left lane of northbound US-61. Vang's vehicle then hit a third car driven by Karen Stocksett, 28, of St. Clair Shores, MI. She suffered no apparent injuries, the patrol said.

Two passengers in Vang's vehicle were hurt in the crash. Xao Vang, 15, and Porchoua Xiong, 16, both received minor injuries. The State Patrol did not list addresses for the two passengers.
