Pet companions will have their special day this fall with a St. Francis of Assisi Blessing of the Animals. It will happen on Saturday, Oct. 6 in a joint venture sponsored by Northwoods Humane Society, St. Francis of Assisi Animal Rescue and Roberts Family Funeral Home. On Oct. 6, a pet walk will form at Houle’s Feed Mill and march south along the Hardwood Creek Trail to Roberts Family Funeral Home, 555 SW Centennial Drive. The five-block walk will start at 9:30 a.m. At the funeral home, area clergy will be on hand to take part in a short service and the individual blessing of each animal. Dogs, cats and all kinds of animals are welcome. Dr. Dave Enright of South Shore Veterinary Hospital in Forest Lake will be the veterinarian for the day. The information is needed in order for a certificate to be completed in advance.
