By this time next week, the finalists for four seats on the ISD 831 Board of Education will be known.

Voters in the Forest Lake area school district will be asked to go to the polls next Tuesday for a primary election contest that will eliminate three of the 11 candidates who filed for the school board.

Those who survive the Sept. 11 primary will move on to the general election ballot on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Four school board seats, all for four-year terms, are up for election this year.

Polls in the district will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Voters on Sept. 11 can vote for up to four candidates. The list of candidates on the ballot will be as follows:

•Linda Nanko Yeager, Wyoming.

•James Heck, Forest Lake;

•Kenneth L. Engler, Forest Lake;

•Jim Banta, Wyoming;

•John N. Freed, Columbus;

•Jackie McNamara, Forest Lake;

•Dick Tschida, Forest Lake.

•Incumbent Board President Bill Bresin, Forest Lake.

•Incumbent Joe Grafft, Linwood Township.

•Incumbent Rob Rapheal, Scandia.

•Incumbent Dan Kieger, Lino Lakes.

One of the candidates, McNamara, has announced that she was withdrawing from the contest and would not seek support from the public.

Her name, however, can not be removed from the ballot at this date.
