Chicago man arrested in FL on 2 felony warrants
A man from Chicago was arrested in Forest Lake on Thursday on two outstanding felony warrants issued by courts in Illinois and in Ramsey County in Minnesota.
Police were called to the parking lot at Wal-Mart, 200 SW 12th St., at 1 p.m. on Thursday for a disturbance where a father and son were arguing. After intervening in that incident, police were alerted to the involvement of a third man who had walked away from the two who were arguing as police arrived.
Forest Lake officers located the man north of Wal-Mart near McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken where he was detained. He was arrested for probable cause of felony possession of a controlled substance and giving false information to a police officer. The man carried a duffle bag that contained nine bindles or small packages of marijuana, Chief of Police Clark Quiring said.
After being detained and giving two false names to officers, the man provided correct identification of Antonio C. McCray, 20, of Chicago, IL, and 1239 Herbert, St. Paul. Forest Lake police said McCray had active warrants for a felony assault in Illinois and felony domestic assault by strangulation in Ramsey County for an incident there in mid-August. The warrant was issued in Ramsey County after McCray failed to appear for a District Court hearing, police said.
Police said no charges were issued to the father and son who were the first contacts. Police said the initial disturbance involved the father attempting to get his son to come home.
