Replacement of a sanitary sewer line in Forest Lake will impact traffic on Broadway Avenue for approximately three to four weeks, starting Thursday, Sept. 22.

At the Thursday morning neighborhood meeting at Taco John’s, Joe Campbell, construction manager at Washington County, said Redstone Construction Co. had requested to move that utility work from 2012 into the final stages of construction this year.

The line replacement between 3rd and 4th streets is slated to begin on Monday, Sept. 26. Removals, traffic control, and material stockpiling will occur Thursday and Friday.

“Traffic will run on the outside two lanes of Broadway Avenue,” Campbell said.

The middle three lanes, including the center left turn lane, will be closed. Traffic will not be allowed to directly cross 3rd and 4th streets or make left turns onto or off of Broadway Ave. from those intersections.

However, traffic will be allowed to make all right turning motions.

He said there are significant benefits for doing the work in 2011. It would be eliminated from next year’s timeline.

“It really helps the contractor get a jump start before next spring,” Campbell added.
