Edith “Oma” Kauls, 98, Forest Lake, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012. She was a native of Latvia and emigrated to the United States from Germany in 1952 with her husband and four children.
The family first lived in Wyoming before moving to Forest Lake. She was a school district food service employee for a number of years.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 5 at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. A gathering of family and friends will take place one hour prior to the memorial service.
A private family interment will be at Crystal Lake Cemetery, Minneapolis.
She is survived by her children, Guido (Ann) Kauls, Herm (Jan) Kauls, Liliane (Jack) Schutz, and Peter (Olivia) Kauls; one sister, Irmgard Kuhn; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hermann “Opa” Kauls.
