The drive will begin this month to raise funds to support the 2012 Fourth of July celebration in Forest Lake which is sponsored by American Legion Post 225.

The first event in the annual drive will come on Saturday, Jan. 28 in form of a spaghetti dinner and silent auction. The event is slated from 5-7:30 p.m. at Legion Post 225, 355 W. Broadway Ave.

The cost of the dinner is $7 per plate with all proceeds going to support the 2012 parade and fireworks.

Legion Post 225 Commander Krista Goodyear hopes to raise in excess of $30,000 to sponsor the upcoming summer celebration, a tradition here for nearly 90 years.

The Legion will also be seeking donation to the silent auction. Anyone wishing to donate an item or a gift certification may call the American Legion at 651-464-2600 for more information.

“Join us for a fun evening of great food, music and an awesome silent auction,” Goodyear said.

More fund-raising events will be scheduled this winter and spring as the Legion moves closer to the summer celebration dates.
