With joyous and inspirational music from Stephen Schwartz, the composer who brought Wicked and Godspell to life, Children of Eden is a heartfelt and humorous adaptation of the Book of Genesis.
The musical tells the story of Adam, Eve, Noah, his wife, and their children as they grapple with their relationships to each other and with “the Father,” who created them. Through their conflict comes a message of empathy and love.
Under the direction of Vanessa Novak assisted by Shalee Dunaski and Kristi Johnson Jacoway, with musical direction by Maurya Laqua and choreography by Laurie Hahn Ganser, about 50 youth have worked hard to bring this challenging, energetic drama to the YPA stage.
Performances will be at Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1790 SE 11th St., on Jan. 13-15 and 21 at 7 p.m. and Jan. 14, 21-22 at 3 p.m.
