Hockey girls push Bears to OT
Forest Lake nearly pulled off the upset in a loss at White Bear Lake in girls’ hockey action. The Rangers fell 2-1 last Tuesday, but pushed the ninth-ranked Bears to overtime in their own building.
The Rangers trailed 1-0 heading into the third period, having been outshot 29-6. The tide swung over the final 17 minutes of regulation and Kennedy Crever’s powerplay goal tied the game with about 10 minutes left.
White Bear Lake’s Abbie Bircher tallied the game-winner 11:30 into overtime.
Abbi White finished with 42 saves for the Rangers.
The girls then fell 5-2 at home to Park on Saturday. Forest Lake trailed 4-0 before Sadie Nelson scored twice in the third period.
“We made four major mistakes that resulted in four breakways,” said coach Ryan Sauter.
The Rangers (4-12-3) hosted Stillwater this Tuesday. They play at Roseville on Saturday and host East Ridge next Tuesday.
