Political process starts on Feb. 7

Residents of the area who have an interest in becoming part of the political process will have their opportunity on. Tuesday, Feb. 7, Minnesota Caucus Night. Political parties will gather at schools and community centers to chart elelction plans.

One of the major topics for the night will fall to the Republican Party of Minnesota. The GOP will conduct a non-binding presidential preference straw ballot. A DFL presidential preference vote will also be taken.

Senate District 52  DFL

The Senate District 52 DFL precinct caucuses will be take place in three locations on Feb. 7.

Presidential-preference balloting will begin immediately after convening and conclude at 8 p.m. Ballots may only be cast in person; no absentee balloting.

Attendees may introduce resolutions for possible inclusion into the Minnesota DFL and Democratic Party’s platform. Attendees will also select precinct officers for the next two years and elect delegates to the District 52 Convention March 31.

Anyone who will be eligible to vote in Minnesota by Nov. 6, 2012 may vote in the presidential-preference ballot.

The caucus for House District 52A (Scandia only) will be at Scandia Community Senior Center, 14727 N. 209th St. N. in Scandia. The House District 52A caucus for all areas except Scandia will be at Century Junior High School, 21395 Goodview Ave. in Forest Lake.

Senate District 52 GOP

The Republican Party caucus for Senate District 52 will take place 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7. Business items will be the nomination and election of a precinct chair and precinct officers, the nomination and election of delegates and alternates to the Republican Party of Minnesota Convention, balloting for Republican presidential preference and consideration of resolutions.

District 17 — GOP and DFL

For residents of Wyoming, the DFL and Republican Party will meet at Wyoming Elementary School on Feb. 7. Senate District 17 and House District 17B business will be conducted for both parties.
