A free parent leadership boot camp to teach parents how to affect change for public schools will be offered Saturday at Forest Lake High School by Citizens United for Public Schools 831. The CUPS 831 program is set from 9 a.m. to noon. The program will be led by the statewide organization, Parents United for Public Schools. The statewide non-profit works on behalf of public education. The session will provide parents with key information about the political and policymaking process as it relates to public education. Parents armed with this information can become a powerful force for change, said John Beckstrom, co-chair of CUPS 831. “Parents who want to influence these decisions need to have an understanding about how schools are funded, governed and how the legislative process works,” he added. Reservations are encouraged by contacting Sheila at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
