FL Republicans favor Santorum on caucus night

Republicans in the five Forest Lake precincts overwhelmingly backed former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania in Tuesday’s non-binding presidential preference vote.

Santorum led the four main contending candidates with 73 votes. Texas Congressman Ron Paul was second with 49 votes.

Third in the balloting was former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with 25 votes. Former U.S. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich of Georgia was fourth with 24 votes. Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who has dropped out of the national race, received two votes.

Republicans from the five Forest Lake precincts completed their caucus night duty at Forest Lake High School. Results from the remainder of Senate District 52 will be released as they become available.

Congrats I guess to Rick but less than 200 votes were cast. Not a good indicator. Look who won the Iowa Straw Poll and remember how that turned out. Too bad Mr. Paul makes too much sense to get the nomination.
