C-E-C ousts hockey girls
Putting the puck in the net has been hard for the Ranger hockey girls this year, and it proved difficult again in the team’s 4-0 sectional loss in Cloquet last Thursday.
Third-seeded C-E-C scored once in the first period, but the game was tight until the Lumberjacks struck again early in the third period.
“It was too bad, because we had a lot of momentum going into the third period,” said first-year coach Ryan Sauter. “We were kind of all over them in the second period.”
Forest Lake finishes the year 5-18-3. Senior Sadie Nelson led the team with 15 goals, while senior goalie Abbi White posted a save percentage right at .900 while seeing over 30 shots a game.
Sauter reported that the girls remarked how close-knit the squad was.
“They outperformed my expectations as far as them becoming leaders, especially our seniors,” he said. “They did everything I asked and more.”
Seniors include White, Nelson, Rachel Hartshorn, Katie Boleen, Alex White and Brittni Kelbe.
