Marlin ‘Bud’ Houfer

Marlin “Bud” Houfer, 86, Forest Lake, died at home on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012. He was a veteran with the United States Army and served during World War II.

A funeral service was Friday, Feb. 17 at Mattson Funeral Home, Forest Lake.

Interment was at Oak Park Cemetery, Columbus, with members of VFW Post 4210 conducting military honors at the cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elsie; two children, James (Cheryl) and Marlene (Richard); grandchildren:  Margo Peterson, Dannell (John) Nordstrom, Dietrich Peterson, Jason (Emily) Houfer, Kel (Sarah) Houfer, Robert Houfer; four great-grandchildren; two siblings; and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.
