Washington County Sheriff will use forfeited drug funds

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office will use $35,800 seized from illegal drug activity in Washington County to pay for annual operating expenses and equipment. The Washington County Board of Commissioners approved the use of the money on Tuesday, Feb. 14. The money is forfeited through judicial process and a percentage remains in the sheriff’s office forfeiture fund to be spent on future determent of drug activity in the county, according to Minnesota state statute. The sheriff’s office will use the money to pay Lexipol Police Project Dues, League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust, a Narcotics Task Force Insurance premium, and video conference equipment, as well as the expenses of narcotics office overtime in the cities of Forest Lake, Cottage Grove and Woodbury
