Search ends for brother of Hugo woman

The search for the brother of a Hugo woman has ended as the body of David Wandtke, 52, St. Paul, was found in the Mississippi River on Sunday, March 25. Wandtke, who is the brother of Katie Riopel of Hugo, had been missing since February 14. St. Paul police said they do not believe the death is suspicious. Wandtke’s body was found in the river under a railroad bridge in Lilydale Regional Park. Wandtke’s vehicle was subsequently found in a parking lot at Fort Snelling State Park. Riopel, who operates a dog obedience school in Hugo, helped form a Facebook search site in attempts to find her brother.
