A six-week series of Growing Through Loss grief support sessions will be offered by the Lakes Area Grief Support Coalition on Monday nights from April 9 through May 14.
The sessions will be from 7-9 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Dr., Forest Lake.
The series will provide an opportunity for individuals to obtain information and support for a variety of loss and grief issues. Registration begins at 6:45 p.m. A large group presentation is scheduled from 7-8 p.m. and small groups will interact from 8-9 p.m.
Linda Cherek, a licensed psychologist, will be the first presenter on Monday, April 9. Her talk on grief is entitled, “You Are Not Going Crazy.” She uses a cognitive behavioral/integrative approach to help clients make the necessary shifts in life to get what they need, to heal from their losses and to find hope.
Cherek’s current specialty areas are with adults and older adolescents experiencing grief/loss associated with death, chronic illness, life transitions and life losses, divorce, trauma, recovery and women’s issues. She provides group facilitation training programs and is a presenter locally and nationally on issues related to trauma, stress, loss, and bereavement ministry.
The purpose of this series is to provide an opportunity for individuals to obtain information and support for a variety of loss and grief issues.
