Chisago Lakes Baptist Church to commemorate 50 years of serving God

Chisago Lakes Baptist Church, originally Bible Baptist Church, began meeting in Robert Forsyth’s home in Shafer on Easter Sunday, April 22, 1962. The original 25 charter members and four families have grown to an attendance averaging close to 300 and over 150 families.

Current ministry leadership includes: Kraig Keck, senior pastor; Dwayne Gibson, associate pastor; Sam Brown, youth pastor; and Jerry Schwenke, school administrator

Celebration services and activities begin Saturday morning, April 21 at 8 a.m. with Pastor Keck speaking at a men’s breakfast. The ladies’ spring salad and a time to hear from the wives of past pastoral staff is scheduled for noon and an evening of music at a homecoming concert provided by former and present CLBC musicians. A pie social will follow the concert.

Worship on Sunday, April 22 includes a time of remembrance at 9 a.m., service at 10:30 a.m. with a time to fellowship and get acquainted or re-acquainted with past members between the two services. A catered lunch and an afternoon celebration service will follow. Speakers will be former pastoral staff, Dr. Ernie Schmidt, Pastor Gene Brush, Dr. George Cable and Pastor Matt Morrell.
