Demonstrations from members show various ways of quilting and share sewing tips for free throughout the two-day show. Lunch is available both days at the show, from the church ladies group of Faith Lutheran. Several vendors from various quilt shops will be there offering materials and kits for sale.
A group within the club “Comfort Quilts” makes lap quilts for many local nursing homes, Davita Dialysis units in Forest Lake and Mora, and the veterans home. They also support the Quilts of Valor program, which gives quilts to our wounded soldiers.
In past years, the club has given $500 donations of their quilt show profits to food pantries, a medical field scholarship, and to service agencies and non-profit organizations.
Forest Lake Memorial Quilters began in 1979. The 60 member club consists of quilters with a wide variety of quilting talents. They meet on the third Thursday of each month fron 7-9 p.m. at the Forest Lake Senior Center.
