FL sweeps pair of meets

The Ranger synchronized swimming team cruised to victories in routine meets against Osseo-Maple Grove, Bloomington and Itasca last week. The competitions served as warm-ups for the team’s big conference showdown in Stillwater which took place this Tuesday.

Forest Lake hosted Osseo-Maple Grove last Thursday for the season’s first routine meet. The Rangers took care of business, beating the Gators in each category.

The ‘Cheer’-themed group scored 66.7 points to place first in the team category by over 5.5 points. Members include Katherine Anderson, Resa Brockman, Rachel Chatwin, Lindsey Crohn, Andrea Dunrud, Brooke Ewert and Morgan Sperry.

The trio of Brockman, Ewert and Sperry took first place with 63.0 points, while Crohn, Dunrud and Stephanie Brenk placed second with a score of 59.0.

In the duet category, Anderson and Sperry earned first place with a score of 64.7. Chatwin and Ewert came in second with 61.7 points.

Anderson’s solo scored 63.3 points to place first.

The Rangers also topped the leaderboard in each event at Saturday’s meet in Grand Rapids. The ‘Cheer’ team racked up 67.8 points. Forest Lake’s ‘The Dark Knight’ team followed in second place with 63.3 points. Members include Brenk, Miranda Anderson, Sarah Kroska, Karlee Lawrence, Alissa Ralph, Randi Rossbach, Kathy Tomnitz and Jessica Walker.

Brockman, Ewert and Sperry won the trio division with 64.7 points. Ralph, Rossbach and Tomnitz tied for second with the trio of Chatwin, Kroska and Lawrence at 60.8 points.

In the duet competition, Anderson and Sperry again prevailed with a score of 66.0 points. Chatwin and Ewert placed second, upping their score to 63.3.

Anderson (65.8) and Dunrud (65.5) swept the top spots in the solo category.

The Rangers host Columbia Heights next Tuesday.
