It’s not too early to check out events scheduled for the second annual Lake Fest celebration in Forest Lake. It’s just five weeks away.
The main two-day weekend celebration will be followed by a full week of school and community events.
The headline days are Friday and Saturday, June 1-2, with Saturday, June 2 the major day for events at Lakeside Memorial Park in downtown Forest Lake.
Events on the opening day include the 35th reunion of the Forest Lake High School class of 1977 at Stella’s on 97 and a wine and beer tasting party hosted by the Forest Lake Lake Association at Vannell’s by the Lake.
The evening will conclude with a movie in the park at Lakeside Memorial Park at 10 p.m.
Events on Saturday, June 2 start at 8 a.m. and end at 10 p.m. The day will start with the Johnson/Turner Calorie Burner 5K fun-run starting at Lakeside Park at 9 a.m.
Other events on June 2 include arts in the park, entertainment by jazz band players from the high school, a performance by the Bald Eagle Water Ski Club at 1 p.m., student entertainment and a community picnic in the park from 5-7 p.m.
The evening will feature two acts on the gazebo stage — local singer Charlie O from 5-7 p.m. and the band Redpath from 7-10.
American Legion Post 225 will host a pig roast starting at 3 p.m. on June 2.

•Reception for District Hall of Fame and Athletics Hall of Fame, Forest Hills Golf Club, 6 p.m.
Wednesday, June 6
•Glenn Miller Orchestra Concert, 7 p.m., Forest Lake High School Auditorium with proceeds to benefit Community Scholarship Foundation. Tickets are available at the following locations: Forest Lake High School, First State Bank of Wyoming, Security State Bank of Marine, Scandia and Forest Lake offices, Yellow Bus Children’s Shop and The Music Connection, both in Forest Lake.
Thursday, June 7
•101st commencement program, Forest Lake High School Varsity Stadium, 7:30 p.m.
Friday, June 8
•Fund-raiser for The Education Foundation of the Forest Lake Area, 6 p.m., Vannelli’s by the Lake.
•90th anniversary celebration of American Legion Post 225 featuring a “Roaring 20’s” band.
•Rockin’ Hollywoods, 7-10 p.m., gazebo, Lakeside Park. This free concert is the annual opening act for the 2012 Forest Lake Park Board Arts in the Park concert series that continues every Tuesday night through the summer.
