The Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau in Forest Lake has announced that Andria Sterbentz has joined the YSB staff as the youth enrichment and mentoring manager.
Sterbentz said that her vision is to embrace the energy of youth and believes that “teens are so inspiring – whether they are struggling or thriving or both – their honesty and enthusiasm is contagious!”
Sterbentz said she is looking forward to continuing the development of youth-directed social and leadership skill building and service opportunities for youth to make a difference in the community. She will also oversee the agency’s “Making Connections” Youth Mentoring Program.
Sterbentz has a bachelor of applied science degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, with a major in community health education and a minor in psychology. She has participated in AmeriCorps where she matched at-risk youth with positive community volunteer mentors at the “Y Style” program of Duluth’s YMCA.
She was most recently the secondary youth program planner in the Forest Lake School District 831 Community Education program where she planned and organized enrichment and recreational activities for junior and senior high school students.
