FLHS speech team wins 3 medals at state meet

Three members of the Forest Lake High School Speech Team finished the season by earning medals at the state competition on April 21 in Chanhassen.

Ryan Sudo placed fourth in the Informative Speaking category, while Amy Mihelich placed fifth in Extemporaneous Reading and Bri O’Gorman placed seventh in Great Speeches.

Ryan Lecy, Neil Peterson and Garrison Shea also competed at state.

The six combined to lead Forest Lake to a second-place finish at the Section 7AA speech tournament on March 31 in Princeton. Duluth East edged the Rangers for the team title.

Sixteen of the team’s 25 entries there advanced to the finals.

Sudo won the section championship, Michelich took second place and O’Gorman took third. Peterson won the title in Prose, Shea took first place in Drama and Lecy placed second in Informative Speaking.
