The Washington County Board approved a contract May 1 that allows the county to continue membership in Greater MSP, a regional economic development partnership. The county’s membership dues will be $50,000 in 2012. The Minneapolis-Saint Paul Regional Economic Development Partnership, or Greater MSP, is the culmination of the Job Growth Task Force of the employer-led alliance, the Itasca Project. The Itasca Project is composed of leaders representing more than 50 businesses, public sector agencies, academic and charitable organizations, and is dedicated to raising the economic competitiveness and quality of life and eliminating disparities across the Twin Cities region by generating quality job growth, advancing a comprehensive and aligned transportation system, and improving the region’s education system. The goal is to allow the 13-county metropolitan area to compete successfully in the world economy, by collaborating to leverage local assets to attract, retain and expand business opportunities.
