The Sons of Norway Vennelag 1-546 will host its annual Heritage Fest at the Scandia Community Center on Tuesday, May 15.
The Heritage Fest is an opportunity for the public to sample authentic Norwegian foods such as smørbrør (open face Norwegian sandwiches), meatballs, sausage, pickled herring, lefse, rice pudding, rømmegraut (cream pudding), rosettes, krumkake and many other baked Norwegian delicacies as Vennelag members will be serving them.
Visitors will be able to watch demonstrations of the Norwegian crafts of rosemaling, hardanger, woodcarving and lefse making. And many members of Vennelag 1-546 will be wearing their colorful Norwegian bunads for this great festival.
Admission will be by advance ticket sale only. No tickets will be sold at the door as the number is limited by the size of the hall. Get tickets from a Sons of Norway member; the price is $15. Call 651-462-1898 or 651-257-3314 for tickets.
Florian and Jerry Chmielewski and Lorren Lindevig have tuned up their accordions and will play for dancing and listening pleasure.
The famous Norske Lotteri is the place to get buy surprise gifts. A silent auction will offer interesting items. Norwegian lefse will also be sold at the Heritage Fest.
