More I-35E ramps to reopen and close this week

Resurfacing, concrete rehab nears completion in the north Twin Cities metro

Interstate 35E motorists will experience delays beginning the evening of Monday, May 14 as the ramps from northbound I-35E to Anoka CR-J and the ramp from CR-J to northbound I-35E close.

However, the ramp from northbound I-35E to CR-14 and the ramp from CR-14 to northbound I-35E will reopen by 7 p.m. Monday, May 14.

The I-35E/CR-J ramps will reopen by Monday, May 21. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour during these ramp closures.

The ramp closures are necessary as crews continue the Interstate 35E resurfacing project between CR-96 in White Bear Lake and the northern I-35/I-35E/I-35W junction in Columbus. The CR-J/I-35E ramps are the remaining two ramps scheduled for closure on this project.

The goals of this project are to reconstruct I-35E between Columbus and White Bear Lake. It includes extending the life of the pavement by removing the existing blacktop and replacing it with a new concrete overlay and improving ride quality.

The project will also replaces the box culvert carrying Clearwater Creek beneath I-35E.
