FL seeks public input on strategic plan, US-61 study
Open house is May 29 at FL City Hall
The Forest Lake City Council is seeking public input for the 2012-2015 City of Forest Lake Strategic Plan and the Highway 61 Aesthetics and Water Quality Planning Study. The City Council began to discuss the best ways to take responsibility for the future of Forest Lake earlier this year through a series of Community Conversations and other workshop sessions.
Stakeholders can provide feedback on the draft Strategic Plan and Highway 61 Aesthetics and Water Quality Planning Study through an open house and online survey.
The open house will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29 at City Hall, 220 Lake St. N.
The public will have an opportunity to provide feedback on the overall goals and strategies that were developed from the input so far. Some common themes have emerged with goals and strategies being developed in the following areas:
• Management and Leadership
• Finance, Facilities and Technology
• Economic and Community Development
• Parks and Recreation
• Public Safety – Police and Fire
• Public Works
The strategic plan will establish goals for staff and set a policy framework to link all existing city plans and establish priorities for municipal investments over the next three to five years.
The Highway 61 Aesthetics and Water Quality Planning Study seeks to improve the aesthetics and water quality along the Highway 61 corridor. The corridor design will encourage strong business, vibrant neighborhoods, streets that are safe and a convenient and comfortable mode of transportation for everyone.
The city council and city staff will be present during the open house.
