Scandia wells test OK for nitrates

Nine wells belonging to homeowners who live near the Anderson/Erickson 201 sewer system on the east side of Big Marine Lake in Scandia have safe nitrate levels, according to testing done in May. The private wells on Norell Avenue were tested because monitoring wells near the sewer drain field showed nitrates exceeding 10 milligrams per liter, the health-risk limit for nitrate in drinking water.  All nine private wells had levels less than 1 milligram per liter. — Mary Bailey, Scandia Reporter
