The Forest Lake softball team is ranked No. 2 in the state and they came out looking ready for the postseason in their Section 7AAA opener Friday afternoon. The top-seeded Rangers routed the ninth seed, Cambridge-Isanti, 10-0 in six innings.

The Rangers took a two-run lead in the first inning and never looked back. Up 5-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, they tallied five straight runs to end the game an inning early. The big inning started with four consecutive bunts for base hits. Micah McGuinness led off the inning, then drove in the final run with a single which would have plated two more runs if the 10-run rule did not go into effect. She also pitched the last inning in relief of Michelle LaCasse.

Forest Lake (20-1) advances to the round of four, which takes place next Wednesday with a game against either Anoka or Duluth East. The duration of the tournament will be held at Fenway Athletic Park in Forest Lake. The championship round takes place next Thursday.
