FLEA approves 2-year teacher contract
80% of teachers vote in support
Members of the Forest Lake Education Association have overwhelmingly approved a new two-year wage and benefit package.
Approval came late on Thursday, May 24 in form of a teacher vote that registered 80 percent in favor and 20 percent opposed.
The contract, which covers the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 school years, now goes to the Forest Lake School Board for ratification. That vote will come on Thursday, May 31 during a regular meeting of the board.
FLEA President Tony Harris said the strong level of support for the new contract was due largely to an informed staff and a transparent process. “We were able to go to each school and present the contact,” Harris said.
Full contract details are expected to be released this week following the school board’s ratification vote.
