Land known as the Knauff property will be added to the Big Marine Park Reserve in the northern portion of Washington County, after the county board agreed to the purchase on Tuesday, May 15.
The purchase price for the 2.65 acres will be $430,000. The county will pay for the land from its Land and Water Legacy Program, a voter-approved program to direct money to land preservation, water protection and parks. Of that, 75 percent will be reimbursed by the Metropolitan Council this year.
The acquisition of the Knauff property was initiated by the property owners who advised the county of their interest in selling the property.
