FL baseball on the ropes in Section 7AAA

Forest Lake beat Andover 2-1 to open the round of four in Section 7AAA play on Saturday, but a loss to Grand Rapids that afternoon has them in a tough spot as they look to earn a fourth consecutive trip to the state tournament.

The top-seeded Thunderhawks (18-5) pulled away for a 5-1 win at Schumacher Field to advance to the section championship round. Grand Rapids scored four runs in the fifth inning to break open a close game.

Forest Lake, seeded third, must win their way into the championship round with an elimination game today, June 4, against sixth-seeded St. Francis. The game starts here at 4 p.m. The winner will need to beat Grand Rapids twice in a row to take the title in tomorrow’s championship round, which also starts at 4 p.m. at Schumacher Field.
