The Rangers baseball team had all the momentum after crushing Grand Rapids 12-3 in the first game of the championship round Tuesday night at Schumacher Field. The win kept Forest Lake alive and kept the Thunderhawks from clinching.
The winner-take-all game that followed, however, belonged to Osha Brewer and his Grand Rapids squad. The senior pitcher confounded the Rangers for the second time in the tournament as the Thunderhawks prevailed 7-0 to advance to the state tournament.
Forest Lake’s streak of three Section 7AAA title came to an end with the loss. The Rangers end the season with a record of 16-10.
