Redbirds peck away, top Brewers 7-1
The Forest Lake Brewers fell to 2-4 in the young season with a 7-1 loss at the Coon Rapids Redbirds on Monday. The hosts jumped out with two runs in the first inning off Dave Gauerke and that was all they would need as the Brewers scored just once off seven hits. Two of those came from Drew Cremisino, including a double.
The townball team dropped a non-league game at home against the Lyons Pub Warriors on Friday by a score of 4-2. The visitors scored twice in the 10th inning to leave town with a win. Jeff Brooks hit a home run for Forest Lake, and Tyler Henderson and Mark Miron each had two hits. Starter Mike Swenson allowed one earned run over six innings.
Last Tuesday’s road trip went well as the Crew gained a 1-0 win at Hamel. Justin Roeder drove in John Mollner for the only run of the game. Gauerke struck out seven in six scoreless innings, and Matt Zidar picked up the save.
Forest Lake played at St. Francis Wednesday and hosts East Bethel Friday. The Brewers head to Anoka on Sunday and host Blaine next Tuesday.
