Dusty Boyer wins 4th straight tennis title, makes state history
Dusty Boyer made state tennis history on Friday by claiming his fourth straight singles title.
The Forest Lake senior breezed through his final two matches, downing Thomas Nath of Rochester Mayo, 6-3, 6-1, before beating Eden Prairie’s Scott Elsaas, 6-4, 6-2, to win the Class 2A singles tennis championship. He won two matches on Thursday to advance to the semi-finals of the individual tournament.
In the doubles bracket, senior Zach Decker and ninth-grader Toby Boyer also advanced to the state finals. They fell 1-6, 5-7 to Luke Elifson and Martin Beck of Minneapolis South. The Ranger duo beat Matthew McNutt and Tim Hanson of Bloomington Jefferson 7-5, 6-4 in the semifinals.
Elk River claimed the team title in Class 2A.
