Miron files for county board

Fran Miron has filed for the District 1 Washington County Commissioner position. Miron has served as the mayor of Hugo for 16 years.

“My experience in local government will benefit Washington County by providing a new perspective,” Miron said. “As mayor, I understand the importance of providing residents with quality local services they deserve while maintaining fiscally conservative values.”

Throughout Miron’s tenure as mayor he has helped manage Hugo’s growth from a population of 3,000 to nearly 13,000 residents. During this expansion the city added infrastructure to support this growth, including the construction of a city hall, fire hall, public works facility, and many transportation improvements. There have also been substantial increases in the services provided to residents through new health clinics, restaurants, retail centers, and other private industry.

He has chaired the Forest Lake Agricultural Education Advisory Committee for over 30 years; has served on the Washington County Extension Committee; is a member of the Forest Lake Community Scholarship Foundation board; and is a past member of the Minnesota Judicial Ethics Committee. Miron and his wife, Mary Ann, have been married 33 years and have raised six children.
