Volunteer organization raising funds for Red Bulls infantry division
A volunteer outfit based out of Stacy is back at it supporting American troops deployed around the world. Citizens Supporting Our Armed Forces (CSOAF) will host the fourth-annual Red Bull Military Appreciation Day this Sunday, June 24, at Rick Doyle Memorial Field in Stacy.
A host of activities are part of the day CSOAF sets aside to thank veterans and active duty soldiers from all branches of the military, as well as their families. Funds raised will once again benefit members of the Army National Guard 34th Infantry Division, known as the Red Bulls, and their families. The 2011 event raised over $8,000 which was spent on care packages shipped to Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait.
Sunday’s event starts with an opening ceremony at noon and runs until 5 p.m. The Stacy Lions will sell food and beer and the North Branch Lions will serve up roasted corn. A military display will feature vehicles, aircraft, memorabilia and more. There will also be games for kids and a rock climbing wall. A silent auction will run from noon to 4 p.m.
In addition, a Red Bulls Motorcycle Run is set for this Saturday. Sign-up runs from 10 a.m. to noon at the Stacy Municipal Bar and the run departs at 12:30 p.m. The run ends at Stars & Strikes Entertainment Center, where there will be a band, silent auction and a classic car show.
See www.csoaf.com for more information on the events from both days.
