Lions to host July 9 blood drive

The Forest Lake Lions Club will sponsor an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 9 at the Forest Lake American Legion Post 225, 355 W. Broadway Ave.

Forest Lake Lions Club President Nancy Immel is chair of the project.

Every minute of every day, someone needs blood. That blood can only come from a volunteer donor, a person like you who makes the choice to donate. There is no substitute for your donation.

When you make a blood donation, you join a very select group. Currently only three out of every 100 people in America donate blood.

From its beginning, the American Red Cross has formed a community of service, of generous, strong and decent people bound by beliefs beyond themselves. The American Red Cross blood donor embodies this principle.

“Please join us in our mission to maintain a safe and stable blood supply by making your appointment to donate blood today,” Immel said. Call her at 982-0627 to make an appointment for the July 9 blood drive.

To find out where you can donate, visit www.redcrossblood.org/ or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733 2767).

Thanks for posting this news, someone needs blood every 2 seconds, give the gift of life!
I was a non-donating Jehovah’s Witness for 33 years and now a regular Red Cross blood donor with my ‘blood buddy’ girlfriend.
    Jehovah’s Witnesses blood transfusion confusion
Jehovah’s Witnesses take blood products now in 2012.

They take all fractions of blood. This includes hemoglobin, albumin, clotting factors, cryosupernatant and cryo-poor too, and many, many, others.
If one adds up all the blood fractions the JWs takes, it equals a whole unit of blood. Any, many of these fractions are made from thousands upon thousands of units of donated blood.
Jehovah’s Witnesses now accept every fraction of blood except the membrane of the red blood cell.
