Man may be in lake after unattended pontoon boat found on First Lake

Emergency personnel from Forest Lake police and fire and the Washington Count water patrol unit converged on the northeast area of First Lake Monday afternoon in attempts to locate an adult man who may have been on a pontoon boat.

Forest Lake Police Capt. Greg Weiss said the incident was reported around 4 p.m. when a citizen on a jet ski found a golden retriever dog swimming in the middle of First Lake near an unattended pontoon boat.

The citizen pulled the dog from the water and brought it to the Lakeside Memorial Park beach area where it was left with a police officer, Weiss said.

The unattended pontoon boat later drifted to the north shore of First Lake. The boat is registered to a Forest Lake resident.

Police are not certain that the boat may have drifted away from a home or business on the lake, or if someone from the boat is missing or in the lake. An active search of the lake has not yet started because of the large area of water that is involved.
