Lake search for missing man suspended early Tuesday morning

A lake search for a missing Forest Lake man was suspended early Tuesday morning when a strong thunderstorm moved through the area.

Forest Lake Police Capt. Greg Weiss said members of the Washington County Water Patrol used sonar to search an area of First Lake where the man’s unoccupied pontoon boat was first seen around 4 p.m. on Monday. Weiss said authorities have confirmed that the man is missing after contacting his family.

The water search was suspended at 3 a.m. on Tuesday as the storm moved in, Weiss said. The search will resume this morning.

Police were alerted to the situation when a dog was found swimming around the unattended pontoon boat by a youth on a jet ski. The dog was delivered to Forest Lake police and has since been returned to the family, Weiss said.

The man’s name has not been released.
