Police in North Branch shoot, kill man

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating an officer involved fatal shooting that took place late July 8 in North Branch after police were called to a disturbance at 38090 Feaski Circle. When officers arrived on the scene they found Robert Elias Aho, 46, who lived at the Feaski Circle home, armed and had threatened his wife with a gun. As Aho emerged from a garage door carrying a rifle and a shotgun, with the barrels facing upward, he ignored repeated instructions to put the weapons down. He then lowered the barrel of one of the weapons to point at the officers. Chisago County Sheriff’s deputy Steven Gregory Husmann fired his weapon, striking Aho twice. Aho was airlifted to Region’s Hospital where he died as a result of the wounds. Husmann is a nine year veteran. He and the other responding officers, Chisago Sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Scott Berg, deputy Derek Dean Anklan and North Branch Police Department officer Rebecca Lynn Lawrence, have been placed on administrative leave.
