Sign ordinance revisions approved in FL

After several delays for revisions, the Forest Lake City Council finally approved the city’s new sign ordinance on Monday. The new document, which is about two-thirds the length of the prior ordinance, won praise for being business-friendly. The new code also should resolve what the council considered a safety concern involving signage along US-61 for Autumnwood Farm. The local business has a billboard on its property that is positioned in such a manner than drivers have made dangerous U-turns on the highway. Now, Autumnwood can seek permission from a neighboring property to erect a sandwich board sign that will give advance notice to traffic. “Congrats to everybody for making a difference and really a significant change in the sign ordinance,” said Mayor Chris Johnson. “We ended up with a good product and an improvement.”
